If you’re planning a wedding in the Gold Coast Hinterland and dreaming of a romantic, refined cottagecore wedding, the styling by Van Dev Weddings at the recent Wedding Collective Gold Coast Summer Open Day showcased exactly how magical that vision can be.
Held at the stunning Acre Boomerang Farm, this open day brought together some incredibly talented Gold Coast creatives to transform the venue into an immersive wedding experience. As the stylist for the event, my goal was to elevate the venue’s natural charm with a refined cottagecore theme that felt intentional, layered, and timeless. Every detail was designed to showcase how a cottagecore wedding in the Gold Coast Hinterland can bring warmth, romance, and elegance to a barn venue.
What is Refined Cottagecore Wedding Styling?
Refined cottagecore wedding styling is countryside romance elevated through intentional, high-end design. Inspired by English garden aesthetics, it blends lace textures, soft florals, organic greenery, candlelight, and heirloom-inspired details with a controlled colour palette and editorial restraint, resulting in a wedding style that feels romantic, polished, and thoughtfully curated.
Why The Acre Boomerang Farm is Perfect for a Hinterland Wedding
Nestled in the Gold Coast Hinterland, The Acre Boomerang Farm is an ideal space for couples seeking barn or marquee wedding styling with a romantic, natural aesthetic. The venue features:
A picturesque rainforest ceremony deck
A rustic barn reception space
A ceremony lawn with towering palm trees
A purpose-built marquee for cocktail receptions
Warm fairy lights woven throughout the barn interior
Its natural textures and serene spaces provide the perfect canvas for multiple refined cottagecore wedding experiences.

The Ceremony: Refined Romance on the Rainforest Deck

The ceremony was set on the venue’s rainforest deck, surrounded by lush greenery. Every detail was styled to create a refined cottagecore wedding ceremony that felt romantic, soft, and intentional.
The Arbour Design
I styled a traditional wooden arbour, softened with:
Flowing chiffon draping pooled elegantly on the deck
Potted plants by The Planted Co positioned at the base for layered greenery
Gold and glass lanterns to introduce warmth and glow
The draping extended to the floor to create softness against the timber structure, creating a refined cottagecore look rather than a purely rustic aesthetic.
A Unique Signing Table Moment
To complete the ceremony design, I incorporated an antique telephone lounge as the signing table, a subtle nod to vintage European charm. It complemented the cottagecore styling beautifully while remaining cohesive with the venue's rustic features.
The Reception: A Refined Cottagecore Barn Wedding
Inside the barn, the atmosphere felt warm, layered, and candle-rich. The venue’s fairy lights cast a soft, ambient glow, while hanging ferns and thoughtfully positioned potted plants added depth and a sense of cottage intimacy. This styling approach softened the barn’s rustic traits while filling the empty space between the table tops and the high ceiling. This drew the eye upward, demonstrating how barn wedding styling in the Gold Coast Hinterland can feel refined, cohesive, and intentional.
The Tablescape: Elevated, Layered, and Candle-Rich

The reception tablescape was designed to feel abundant yet refined, highlighting how a cottagecore wedding tablescape can be both romantic and polished.
Base Styling
Wooden tables and chairs for country charm and natural warmth
A large white chiffon runner flowing to the floor, placed almost to the edges of the tables
A potted fern at one end of each table to elevate the look and accentuate the use of plants
Height and Greenery
For added interest and modern appeal, four potted trees with tall, slender trunks, courtesy of The Planted Co, were placed along the centre of each table as living centrepieces. Their manicured form introduced height and subtle structure, creating a layered, country-inspired aesthetic that felt both elegant and contemporary.
Candle Styling
Candlelight was a key design element:
White LED flame-imitating candles
Gold candlestick holders of varying heights
A candle-rich tablescape for warmth and romance
This mix of heights and textures created visual interest without clutter.
Place Settings
Each place setting was thoughtfully curated:
White charger plates with gold embossed edging
Beige napkins tied in a soft knot
Gold cutlery tied together with lace ribbon
These details elevate a tablescape from pretty to polished and cohesive, perfect for refined cottagecore wedding styling.
Alternate Ceremony and Cocktail Reception: Modern Floral Elegance

Couples who prefer a flower-heavy wedding over a greenery-focused design, we created refined cottagecore wedding inspiration for you too!
The Ceremony: The Palms
The Acre Boomerang Farm also offers a stunning second ceremony location, The Ceremony Lawn, affectionately known as The Palms, due to its placement between the towering palm trees on the open lawn.
In this space, the hero element was a broken floral arch by Fleur Society, layered with richly coloured blooms and soft greenery to create a meadow-like statement installation. This ceremony space leaned into a more floral-forward, modern aesthetic while still honouring the refined cottagecore vision through its organic shape and thoughtfully styled florals.
White wooden bench seating was placed evenly on either side of the aisle, creating symmetry and a clear pathway toward the altar. The combination of natural rustic materials and a crisp white finish reflected the refined cottagecore aesthetic beautifully, resulting in a ceremony setting that felt countryside-inspired, romantic, and intentionally elevated.
The Marquee: A Bloom-Rich Cocktail Reception

The Acre Boomerang Farm's brand-new marquee was purpose-built for cocktail wedding receptions. Within the marquee, our refined cottagecore style evolved into a more floral-forward interpretation. Where the rainforest deck and barn embraced restraint and greenery, the marquee embraced abundance. The florals by Fleur Society became the defining design feature, creating a softer yet more statement-driven atmosphere, while maintaining refinement.
At one end of the marquee, a bridal table anchored the space, creating an elegant focal point while offering a practical retreat for the wedding party.
Key styling elements include:
White satin tablecloths layered for softness and depth
A cascading waterfall of lace beneath abundant floral arrangements, reinforcing the romantic cottagecore aesthetic
Antique silver candelabras paired with white and blush LED flame-imitating taper candles, adding heritage-inspired character
A richly textured tablescape that felt romantic yet editorial
Wooden trestle tables and round timber cocktail tables filled the remaining space within the marquee, introducing natural timber tones. These tables were styled with antique silver candelabras with white and blush LED flame-imitating taper candles, and singular blooms in delicate bud vases, allowing the florals to remain central without overwhelming the space. A champagne tower of blush linear coupe glasses displayed atop a rustic wine barrel added a dramatic yet romantic statement moment.
Rich textures, layered fabrics, and intentional detailing throughout the marquee transformed it into a modern, refined cottagecore setting with an editorial edge.
The Bride: Lace, Texture & Subtle Romance
Soft glam hair and makeup were completed by the talented Amanda Claire on our stunning model bride, Cristina. The look enhanced her natural features while maintaining the softness and understated elegance that defined the overall aesthetic.
Cristina wore the Selene gown by Grace Loves Lace, layered with the Chantilly lace bodysuit beneath for added romance and textural depth. The Ophelia lace-edged veil carried delicate detailing throughout the silhouette, softening the overall look and reinforcing the romantic undertone of the design.
To complete the ensemble, a petite bouquet of soft pink blooms, fresh greenery, and subtle pearl accents by Fleur Society added just enough floral presence without overpowering the refined aesthetic.
Every element was intentionally curated to embody refined cottagecore styling, where texture, restraint, and softness work together in quiet harmony, captured so beautifully in these photographs by Moonshine Lovers.
