The serene Gold Coast hinterland wedding venue, Tall Trees – Tallebudgera Valley, provided the perfect backdrop for this winter wedding styled shoot that captured the very essence of moody romance infused with modern luxury. Showcasing a rich, emotive colour palette of white, lilac, maroon, magenta, and salmon, the concept embraced organic floral design, layered table-scapes, and refined styling, all crafted to inspire couples dreaming of their own cold-season celebration. This shoot was a true creative collaboration, uniting some of the region’s most talented wedding professionals.
As the lead wedding planner and event stylist behind Van Dev Weddings, my passion lies in creating experiences that are both meaningful and visually captivating, where every detail tells a part of the couple’s story. At Van Dev Weddings, we specialise in curating elevated styling concepts that balance romance with authenticity, ensuring no two celebrations ever look or feel the same.
This collaboration at Tall Trees was an opportunity to showcase exactly that approach: blending the venue’s natural beauty with thoughtful design details that transformed the setting into something both atmospheric and inviting. The styling highlighted not only the desired ambiance of the season but also the unique talents of each vendor involved.
Ceremony: Organic Elegance Beneath the Trees
The wedding ceremony unfolded on a grassed area framed by towering trees and overlooking a tranquil dam, the very heart of the property’s natural charm. Wooden benches, arranged to create a soft, wavey aisle, guided the eye naturally toward the altar. At the end of each bench, organic-style floral arrangements by Vaïana from Flowers Gold Coast added pops of seasonal beauty and texture, echoing the natural curves of the landscape and introducing the warm colour palette. The altar itself was beautifully framed with florals in rich, moody tones, creating a focal point that felt both intimate and dramatic. To the right, the natural rattan daisy signing set from The One Day House added a tactile, earthy element that seamlessly blended with the setting.
For the indoor ceremony setup, florals were repositioned within the Barn, overlooking the verandah, offering an equally impactful plan for a weather-proof version. Soft live music by Vanessa Krumma set the mood, echoing the tender emotion of a winter love story.

Cocktail Hour: Sculptural Florals and Signature Sips
Following the ceremony, the venue’s outdoor staircase became a striking styling moment. Large floral installations climbed the steps, creating a grand transition into the cocktail hour while maintaining the wild, organic feel of the shoot.
The Vintage Bar Co elevated the cocktail hour experience with maroon and lilac-hued winter cocktails, garnished with berries and edible flowers. These drinks were more than just delicious, they extended the shoot’s palette and added an extra layer of seasonal storytelling, visually tying together the styling from ceremony to sip.
As guests transition inside the barn for the reception, they're greeted with the venue’s piano, which we transformed into a beautifully styled focal point, framed by lush florals and olive trees. It serves as a thoughtful bridge between the indoor space and the wintry outdoor aesthetic, carrying a touch of the winter landscape indoors. The result is a captivating visual moment for guests and a stunning photo opportunity for our beautiful bride Mia.

Reception: Moody, Modern, and Full of Texture
The reception design struck the perfect balance between modern styling and romantic detail. Soft white fabric, courtesy of The One Day House, was elegantly suspended from the barn’s ceiling beams, intentionally placed to create a graceful draping effect that softened the overall aesthetic. This installation closed the visual gap between the tables and the high ceiling, making the space feel more intimate and cosy, perfect for a romantic winter wedding.

To maintain the soft, romantic aesthetic, guests were welcomed by a white fabric sign, hand-calligraphed in maroon lettering by the talented Ali at Creative Inking.

A standout feature of the Barn at Tall Trees – Tallebudgera Valley is its open wood fireplace, which was lit to provide both warmth and a captivating visual display. Embracing the winter wedding aesthetic, the fireplace added an inviting sense of coziness and was styled with white pillar candles enclosed in glass vases, safely extending the soft glow beyond the hearth. Positioned directly in front of this grand feature, the bridal table was beautifully framed by the fireplace, which created a stunning backdrop while also offering the practical benefit of keeping the couple and their VIP guests warm and comfortable.
In a table formation never before seen at Tall Trees, we arranged the guest tables in two U-shaped layouts, with the open ends facing the head table and reception entrance. This ensured every guest had a clear view of the couple while allowing the distinctive configuration to beautifully fill the large, open space. Within the U-shaped centre, large flower-cloud meadows in deep, moody tones added life and depth to the setting, further enhancing the luxurious winter aesthetic. Olive trees in rattan bases by The Planted Co were placed artfully throughout the reception, bringing a touch of twiggy, seasonal texture to the design and subtly tying the indoor styling back to the surrounding winter landscape of this beautiful hinterland venue.
For this romantic winter wedding, white satin tablecloths pooled elegantly to the floor, reflecting the candlelight and elevating the overall look. Paired with white bentwood chairs, the seating design remained modern and clean, allowing the florals and tabletop styling to take centre stage.
Each place setting featured a layered set of French-style dinnerware, paired with gold and white two-toned cutlery for a sophisticated touch. A beige linen napkin, loosely knotted and placed atop the dinnerware stack, added warmth and texture. Menus and place cards in soft neutral tones, finished with maroon satin ribbon and hand-calligraphed names, brought elegance and personality to every setting.
Down the centre of the tables, a series of small, modern floral arrangements created a refined and contemporary focal point. Each piece was intentionally unique yet complementary in style. Some featuring sculptural moss elements, others arranged in minimalist vessels, adding visual interest, depth, and a sense of effortless cohesion.
To complete the mood, blush-tinted ribbed coupe glasses introduced a refined pop of colour that tied effortlessly into the floral elements. Gold candlestick holders in varied heights, paired with beige taper candles, added romance, depth, and a soft ambient glow that flickered gently into the evening.

The wedding cake crafted by Three Jacks Baking made for a delectable end to the celebration. Its design echoed the reception’s draped styling elements, embellished with delicate pearls and gold beading for a touch of refined luxury.
Bridal Fashion: Modern, Feminine & Thoughtful
Hair and makeup were expertly styled by the talented Artistry by Theresa. Theresa embraced our beautiful model bride Mia’s natural curls, creating a soft, romantic updo. Her makeup look was equally refined, featuring a soft, natural finish with an elegant glow.
Two bridal looks were showcased in this styled shoot, courtesy of Être Marié Bridal Boutique and Stone River Gems. The first bridal look featured an elegantly modern wedding gown with a fitted lace and nude bodice and a flowing satin skirt, perfectly complementing the satin-draped reception tables and adding a luxurious sense of cohesion to the overall design. In place of a traditional veil, a softly draped scarf introduced an ethereal quality and a contemporary silhouette.
For this first look, Stone River Gems crafted a bespoke wedding ring designed to represent the five pillars of marriage: Trust, Respect, Communication, Commitment, and Love. A reimagined classic created with our colour palette in mind, the piece was thoughtfully designed to embody meaning as much as beauty, and I absolutely love that about this ring!
At its centre sits an ethically sourced, champagne, colour-changing 1.5ct Australian zircon, symbolising love and stability. It is paired with playful pink sapphires and garnets for a touch of modern vibrancy and set in recycled 14ct yellow and rose gold, blended to create a softened, romantic hue.
Bridal look two was a little more understated, featuring a white lace-bodice gown styled with a long veil that added beautiful movement and a touch of drama. To accentuate the neckline, the bride wore a single pendant necklace paired with a handcrafted opal engagement ring. In the words of Stone River Gems, "Celebrated for their ethereal beauty, opals are said to symbolise hope, creativity, and truth. No two are ever alike, just like your love story."
